Initial approval was granted to the Center at UNO in September 2001 for a period of one year. In December 2002 Center status was granted through June 30, 2006. A request for reauthorization was approved in September 2009 with a request for reauthorization of Center status to be due by June 30, 2013; Administration of center changed from UNO to LSU in 2012.

A request for reauthorization of Center status shall be submitted by June 30, 2013. 12.11.2014 The Board of Regents granted reauthorization of the Center for a period of five years, effective immediately. A request for reauthorzation shall be due by December 31, 2015. Next reauthorization due December 2019; extension until February 2020 granted at institution's request; 9/23/2020 - Board granted continued authorization of the center. Next request for reauthorization is due 12/1/2025
