Conditional approval

On motion of Regent Roy, seconded by Regent Levy, the Board voted unanimously to accept the recommendation of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee to grant conditional approval for the proposed Ph.D. in Biostatistics (CIP Code 26.1102) at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-New Orleans, effective Fall 2007. By August 31, 2008, and annually until CEPH accreditation has been achieved by the School of Public Health, the LSUHSC-NO shall submit to the Associate Commissioner for Academic Affairs a progress report addressing the following: 1. Numbers of students/graduates/placement of graduates, when applicable; 2. Updates on faculty workload; 3. Documentation of the use of adjunct faculty, graduate teaching associates and distance learning technology to distribute teaching load/effect interactions with closely related state institutions (LSUSCH-S, LSU A&M, UNO, La Tech, Pennington); and 4. Progress toward CEPH accreditation.

2008/10/23: The Board of Regents received the Progress Report relative to implementation of the Ph.D. Program in Biostatistics at the LSUHSC-NO. As required by previous Regents action, the next report shall be due August 31, 2009, and annually on that date until CEPH accreditation has been achieved by the School of Public Health, the LSUHSC-NO shall submit to the Associate Commissioner for Academic Affairs a progress report addressing the following: 1. 2009/09/24: The Board of Regents received the 2009 progress report relative to development and implementation of the Ph.D. in Biostatistics at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. The next report, as stipulated in the original Board action, shall be due August 1, 2010.
The Board of Regents accepted the July 2010 progress report (August 2010 meeting) from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center at New Orleans relative to the implementation and development of the Ph.D. program in Biostatistics. A progress report is due December 1, 2011, updating the Board on the number of program enrollments, graduates, and progress toward specialized programmatic accreditation by CEPH. 03/21/2012 The Board of Regents accepted the 2011 progress report. The next progress report shall be due on August 1, 2012 addressing the four areas previously noted.
2013/01/23: Board of Regents received the 2012 progress report. A subsequent report addressing all previous items shall be due by December 1, 2013.
2013.08.21: Board of Regents received the 2013 progress report. An update on the status of accreditation is requested by December 1, 2013.
2014/01/22: The Board of Regents received and accepted the progress report. Since accreditation has been achieved, no further reporting is necessary.
