Conditional approval

The Board of Regents granted conditional approval for the proposed Bachelor of Science program in Unified Public Safety Administration (CIP Code 30.9999) at Northwestern State University, to be implemented Fall 2008, contingent upon the following stipulations: 1. By August 1, 2008, a report shall be due to the Associate Commissioner for Academic Affairs, addressing the following: a. Hiring one additional faculty; and b. Formation of the Advisory Board , including a list of agencies represented, a schedule of planned meetings, and a list of topics for board consideration. 2. By August 1, 2009, a subsequent report shall be due to the Associate Commissioner for Academic Affairs, addressing the following: a. Hiring of a second additional faculty; b. Numbers of program enrollees; and c. Activities of the program Advisory Board.

2008/08/27: The Board of Regents received the August 2008 progress report from Northwestern State University relative to implementation of the B.S. Program in Unified Public Safety Administration. The next progress report shall be due August 1, 2009.
2009/09/24: The Board of Regents received the AY 2008-09 progress report relative to the implementation of the B.S. in Unified Public Safety Administration at Northwestern State University. Due to the unresolved nature of key stipulations, an interim progress report addressing the same issues shall be due by February 1, 2010. This report should include projected numbers of students enrolled in and graduating from the program for AYs 2009-14 as well as a course rotation schedule with faculty assignments for the same years.
2010/03/24: The Board of Regents received the February 2010 progress report from Northwestern State University relative to implementation and development of the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree program in Unified Public Safety Administration (UPSA). As all previously stated stipulations associated with conditional approval have been met, the staff recommends full program approval at this time. As such, no further progress reports are deemed necessary.
