: The Board of Regents granted conditional approval for the proposed New Orleans Jazz Institute at the University of New Orleans for a period of one year, effective immediately. As required by Board of Regents’ Academic Affairs Guidelines: Proposed New Centers, Institutes, and Other Academic/Research Units, UNO shall submit to the Associate Commissioner for Academic Affairs a proposal for full approval of this institute by June 1, 2009. This proposal should include future budgets that will meet Regents expectations for predominantly external support. If this proposal is not forthcoming by this date, the Board of Regents shall re-examine the need for the Institute.

2009/12/02: The Board of Regents granted an extension of conditional approval for the New Orleans Jazz Institute (NOJI) at the University of New Orleans through December 1, 2010. By May 1, 2010, the University shall report to the Associate Commissioner for Academic Affairs a list of external funding proposals submitted, the progress of these proposals, and amounts garnered to date to support future Institute activities. Upon assessment of this report, the Regents shall consider what additional steps are needed, if any before the due date for submittal of a proposal for full approval (using Form B) as required by Regents’ policies. 2010/06/03: Receive May 2010 progress report (complete budget requested in December 2009) for the New Orleans Jazz Institute – proposal for full approval due December 1, 2010 03/21/2012: Board of Regents granted full five-year approval to the New Orleans Jazz Institute. A request for reauthorization is due by April 1, 2017 04/20/2017: Campus requested termination of Institute.
