: On motion of Regent Roy, seconded by Regent Klein, the Academic and Student Affairs Committee unanimously recommended approval for the proposed Letter of Intent for the projected M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Coastal and Ecological Engineering (CIP Code 14.2401) at Louisiana State University and A&M College. Letter of Intent valid for three years. Staff note: A proposal for the MS in Coastal Engineering was received and approved; the institution did not submit a proposal for the PhD.The Board of Regents granted conditional approval for the M.S. in Coastal and Ecological Engineering (CIP Code 14.2401) at Louisiana State University and A&M College. By January 1, 2014, the campus will update the Board on program implementation, to include relevant enrollment and completer/progression data.

A subseqent report is due by January 1, 2015; 2015/01/12: The Board of Regents received and accepted the 2014 progress report. A subsequent report is requested by January 1, 2016; 02.22.2016 The Board of Regents received and accepted the progress report. A subsequent report is requested by January 1, 2017; 02.24.2017: The BoR received and accepted the progress report. A subsequent report is requested by Jan 1, 2018; 12.11.17: The BoR accepted and received the progress report. A subsequent report is requested by 12.01.18; 2.27.2019 - BoR accepted the progress report, a subsequent report including updates on efforts to increase enrollment, faculty hiring, and funding for student support is due 1.1.2020; 5/28/2020 - Board received and approved the report. Next report must demonstrate aggressive action to secure student funding and increase enrollment and graduation, or program will be terminated. Report due 7/1/2022; May 2023 - Met with Provost Haggerty to discuss. Next report with updates on program improvements due 6/1/2024; 9/25/2024 – The Board received and accepted the report as part of the 2024 Academic Plan. The program has not demonstrated satisfactory progress in enrollment and completer growth. An action plan for program improvement is due 1/15/2025, and a report on progress toward meeting enrollment and completion expectations is due 6/1/2025.
